Breathe

As I lay back in my chair letting my mind drift away, I turn on some music and replay the events of my day

Anything that didn’t go in a way that I wanted, I play it in my head as a day undaunted

The air that I breathe is cleaner than before, When I exhale my fears I feel it deep within my core

I focus my attention on the present moment, feeling less than concerned with my future endowments

The heart in my chest, it feels much lighter, The sun in my eyes, it looks even brighter

It isn’t always easy to free yourself from pain, the shadows on the walls and the darkness when it rains

But something I am learning, as I walk this eightfold path, is that suffering is inevitable, and eventually it will pass
